Dr Zulf Masters, OBE - CEO
A doctorate in Clinical Biochemistry, Zulf Masters has had a 34 year career in the pharmaceutical industry, initially gaining valuable international sales and marketing experience with a leading UK research company in the early 1980’s, before founding Masters Pharmaceuticals Limited in 1984. His understanding of Early Access Programs and patients’ needs in Emerging Markets, coupled with his entrepreneurial vision, saw Zulf Masters build the company from its early foundations, operating out a single location, serving only one territory into an expansive international business. Today, the Masters group of companies employs staff on three continents and has attracted a powerful management team to deliver on its continued strategic growth path. In 2004, Zulf Masters was awarded the “Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to International Trade and was runner up for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs award in 2009.
Lynda Foster - Non-Executive Board Director
Lynda Foster was first appointed to the Board of Masters Pharmaceuticals Ltd as a Non-Executive Director in September 2010 and in July 2012, she was subsequently appointed Chief Executive officer until June 2016. Lynda's experience in the pharmaceutical industry spans over 30 years and she retains a wealth of knowledge in the successful management of people and business. Her career includes many leadership Board positions including Ivax (now Teva); founder and CEO of Niche Generics Limited as well as having served as Chairman of the British Generic Association and Vice Chairman of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry.
Andrew Elder - Non-Executive Board Director
The lead healthcare partner at Albion Ventures since 2009, Andrew initially practiced as a surgeon for six years, specialising in neurosurgery. Prior to joining Albion he worked for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and in 2005 he joined Close Ventures. Whilst at BCG he specialised in healthcare strategy, gaining experience with many large, global clients across the full spectrum of healthcare including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, service and care providers. He has an MA plus Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from Cambridge University and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Whilst at Albion he has served on the boards of companies ranging from diagnostics, imaging and healthcare software to pharmaceuticals and biomarkers.
Simon Clarke, Chief Finance Officer
Simon Clarke was appointed CFO of Masters in November 2011, after a successful international career with a number of blue chip multi-nationals. Simon has a wealth of experience in various different Finance roles in large corporations both at an operating and divisional level. He qualified with Coopers & Lybrand in London, before moving to New York to work for Colgate Palmolive, performing operational reviews across the globe. Leading on from this he joined London International Group (now part of Reckitt Benckiser) as Finance Director for their medical devices facility in Thailand, before progressing to Regional Finance Director for Asia Pacific encompassing 13 markets including Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Sales & Marketing of both medical devices and branded OTC products. Simon is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
